Old Long House Popiah - Clementi Central Coffeeshop

I have eaten countless number of Popiah in my whole life and very few has left such an impact on my brainwaves as that produced by Mr Koh, who is the proud Chef at this humble stall at this Clementi Coffee shop opposite the Clementi Central Market & Food Centre ( Blk 448, Clementi Avenue 3)

He makes such unforgetable Popiah that every time Bob brings me to Clementi Central for dinner to savour the food, my mouth will start to salivate the moment I think about Mr Koh's Popiah. He is so painstaking in concocting his ingredients, and he uses great sweet sauce that seems to bring out the taste of the turnip. The Popiah skin does not harden and is moist to the taste. It goes extremely well with his chilli. When we do buy it is always a Twin Combo. Note the ingredients he used are FRESH ! and the Tau Gay is well poached !

Mr Koh hails from Old Long House at Jalan Besar Stadium before it was torned down for new development. Though he did not follow Long House when they shifted to Upper Thomson, yet he has a loyal   clientele following at Clementi, so it doesn't make business sense to shift. The crowd at Clementi is perpetually heavy, even on week day evenings!

It would be a pity if one day Mr Koh decides to retire, and no one wants to learn the craft of Popiah making  to take his secret recipe to the next higher level. Let's pray Mr Koh will continue to bring joy to our palates. So do visit his stall to give him your support.
