Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room at Sembawang Shopping Centre - Dinner with G2 Stanley & Bob

Introduction
Wan Chai HongKong Tea Room at Sembawang Shopping Centre is founded by Mr John Lim, who comes from a big family of 8 brothers, many of whom are in the F&B business, among them is one brother Jimmy Lim who owns & runs Rumah Sayang at JEM & Red Ginger at IMM.

The Cuisine served here at Wan Chai HongKong Tea Room typically are Chinese Asian Cuisine with strong Hong Kong influence as it's name suggests, as well as Western dishes . Many items found on the menu are typical Chinese fare together with Western dishes served at some Hong Kong Tea rooms in Hong Kong itself.

The Ambience
Located on the third level of Sembawang Shopping Centre, Wan Chai HongKong Tea Room serves pretty much comfort food, nothing fanciful, but a lot of homely flavors. A typical evening crowd sees some of its ardent fans seated comfortably amidst a very Chinese decor ambience with cosy lighting.

Adorning the empty spaces on the walls are huge posters showcasing the latest Signatures on the menu, ranging from Wan Chai Special Braised Tea Leaves with Chicken in Superior Soya Sauce, Mango & Pomelo, Hong Kong Clay-pot Mushroom Chicken with Chinese Sausage Rice, Spaghetti with Chili Crab Singapore Style to Shrimp Wanton Noodle.

The large square Oriental yellow lantern shades evenly distribute the light to give a cosy feel to the ambience.

The Kitchen resides right behind the Ordering Counter.

Displayed prominently in chiller shelves are the desserts of the day.

Our Order
We ordered the red bean milk with ice cream drink.

The Special Pork Chop drizzled with garlic & black pepper bits packs a flavorful punch.

Seafood Udon - comes with mussels, crab sticks, prawns stir-fried with soya sauce tastes savoury with the udo fried just right tangy chewy & tasty. I love it that the mussels are huge and juicy sweet.

The Fried Rice with Eel happens to be one of my favorite must order item as eels are my favorite. Though I wish that the Chef are be a little more generous by putting in more eels please.

We tried the Chicken braised in Tea leaves in superior Soya sauce. Chicken tastes pretty much light any soya sauce braised chicken except for the tinge of tea flavor.
