The Introduction
Peloton located at 1 Changi Village Rd #01-2008 is a boutique cafe that serves savoury artisan sandwich, savoury waffles, dessert waffles, desserts, cakes, coffee, tea, smoothies, fresh juices.
Peloton started operations in early May 2014, as a Coffee & Juice Bar to cater to the cycling & jogging crowd here at Changi Village. Overtime they saw there were a lot of young families with children coming to Changi Village.
The Co-Founders - There are 3 Co-Founders : lawyer Rashidah, luxury perfumes retail manager Wahidah & d3 Cafe entrepreneur Mustafa Kamal (who owns Penny University). Mustafa handles supplier contact & product sourcing whilst Rashidah handles Marketing, PR & Operations. Wahidah takes care of the Admin & HR of the business.
Asyron is the Operations Manager who handles the day to day running of the cafe. He brings with him many years' experience in F&B industry.
The Signatures - include Artisan Sandwiches such as Truffle mushroom with salad, Basil Pesto Chicken with salad, Turkey Ham & Cheese with salad, Smoked Salmon Bruschetta with salad, Roast Beef & onion with salad),
Dessert Waffles such as Bananarama, Slumber Party, Scrappy Coco, Fruity Delight, Classic, Classic with ice cream, Desserts such as Brownies, Ice Cream Sandwich, Yogurt Parfait with Granola & special blend brew.
Signature Beverages - Peloton serves really great smoothies, their Signature being the Avocado with chocolate.
Besides smoothies Peloton also serve 4 types of tea - English Breakfast, Earl Grey, French Peppermint, Iced Brewed Tea.

The juices served at Peloton include - Poison Ivy, The Flash, Green Goblin, The Rudolph, The Incredibles.
Peloton gets their cakes baked fresh from two reputable bakers, one of which is based at home whilst the other runs his own bakery.
As the kitchen here is small, minimal cooking is done. Peloton works with well known suppliers to get best quality smoked salmon, dill sauce, roast beef smoked chicken.
The Beginning
The three Founders started Peloton in early May 2014 & positioned it as a Coffee & Juice Bar for cyclists & joggers who come to the cafes in Changi Village to bond over coffee & food after their regular exercise.
Over the months the three Founders discovered there were a lot of young families with children who frequent the cafes at Changi Village. The Founders, after obtaining feedback from these customers with respect to what sort of food they would like to see on the Peloton menu, expanded the menu to include sandwich, cakes, desserts, waffles, in addition to the juices & coffee that Peloton originally served.
Repositioning
The Founders rebrand & repositioned Peloton as a casual artisanal cafe that serves Gourmet sandwiches, salads, savoury waffles, dessert waffles, desserts, cakes, coffee, tea, fresh juices, a place that all customers are welcomed to relax, to feel at ease & to unwind.
Meaning of Peloton
The Founders chose the name "Peloton" which carries the meaning of "the main group of cyclists in a road bicycle race". Much of the paraphernalia, decor & theme of Peloton still revolve around the cycling & jogging community.
Background of Founders
The three Founders come together to start up Peloton & each bring with them their network, expertise & skills set, each contributing to different aspects of the business.
Co-Founder Mustafa Kamal is instrumental in setting up the cafe, & brings with him expertise in the coffee & cafe industry, having started Penny University here on his own, & is also a certified Barista himself. Mustafa Kamal is the one to come up with the customised blend for Peloton, & is the link & network concerning food preparation, cafe set up, industry expertise, inventory & supplies for Peloton.
Co-Founder Rashidah is a qualified family lawyer by training & has her own two persons legal practice which she attends to daily amidst her heavy involvement in Peloton. Rashidah handles the menu, decor, staff movement, PR & Marketing, Customer relations & Operations at Peloton.
Co-Founder Wahidah (Rashidah's elder sister) works full time as the Retail Manager in a luxury perfume company. Wahidah plays key role in handling the Admin & HR functions at Peloton.
To date this is the latest & only brand the three Founders are focused together on excelling & making it successful & profitable. They are looking at 6 months to a year to break even from the 5-figure sum each invested into this business.
An Original brand
Peloton is not a franchise brand but a brand which the three Founders developed together, it was originally intended to be simply a Coffee & Juice Bar, but later evolved to become a Gourmet Cafe.
Expansion Plans
There are plans in future for developing the same brand Peloton but at different parts of Singapore, there are also plans to open cafes with different concept.
The Menu
Menu Planning
Menu planning is done by Rashidah. Currently there are about 20 items on the Standard menu with core Signature dishes, as well as Seasonal menu with Specialities dishes that came about based on the holidays that appear on the Calendar year. E.g. for the 2014 Christmas holiday season, Peloton launched a Turkey with Cranberry gourmet sandwich.
Salads - Peloton menu has Salads in several flavours : smoked chicken salad, smoked salmon salad, vegetarian salad. Peloton does not serve soups yet. The cafe used to serve Bruschetta, but it was not popular among the diners so they took it off the menu.
Sandwiches - Peloton's Gourmet Sandwiches comes in two different bread flavors : sourdough bread or white dough bread.
Peloton serves up tasty artisan sandwiches such as Truffle mushroom with salad, Basil Pesto Chicken with salad, Turkey Ham & Cheese with salad, Smoked Salmon Bruschetta with salad, Roast Beef & onion with salad).
Savoury Waffles - comes in choice of 4 fillings - Smoked salmon,
Smoked chicken with basil pesto sauce, Roast beef, Truffle mushroom.
Dessert Waffles - includes 6 different topping (ice cream, caramel, banana, fruits, everything on top) with very kawaii names : Bananarama, Slumber Party,
Scrappy Coco, Fruity Delight,
Classic, Classic with ice cream.
Cakes - Peloton serves cakes that they get from two suppliers : one is a home baker, the other from a bakery. The cakes come in flavors such as Chocolate cake, Salted caramel cheesecake, Molten lava chocolate cake, Red velvet cake.
There are also desserts such as Brownies, Ice Cream Sandwich,
Yogurt Parfait with Granola & special blend brew.
Beverage - You can find wide selection of brewed coffee here at Peloton - Solo, Dopio, Espresso, Muddy Espresso, Mocha, Iced Mocha, Hot Chocolate, Iced Chocolate, Peppermint Hot Chocolate, Peppermint Iced Chocolate.

Kitchen staff - Peloton has two Sandwich Artist on duty at any one time, one to handle Sandwich orders, the other to handle Waffle orders. The Sandwich Artist hired already has prior experience before coming onboard Peloton as they come from F&B background with experience, so that really lifts off the burden of having to train someone from scratch.
There is also a Peloton Barista on duty at the barista station specially trained by Co-Founder Mustafa Kamal, a Certified Barista & Trainer, who regularly gets Mystery Shoppers to audit the barista staff on duty to keep the standards in check.
The Founders often organise Training sessions for the staff besides getting Consultants on board to help in the presentation of dishes. Peloton also has a standard SOP Manual on hand to standardise the presentation of the sandwiches, desserts & waffles order. It also helps that Operations Manager Asyron comes with F&B industry & background with F&B knowledge & experience to lead the team here.
Peloton has no central kitchen. Most of the smaller items are homemade & prepared at the Peloton kitchen here, with the larger items sourced from Mustafa Kamal's central kitchen at Penny University. Peloton's kitchen here is a no cook cafe, so they get roasted beef, smoked salmon, smoked chicken already prepared fresh from suppliers. The cafe also gets premium grade supplies from reputable suppliers: e.g. meat from Zac Butchery, smoked salmon & smoked chicken from Penny University.
Ingredients sourced are predominantly from local suppliers. The roast beef is prepared & delivered to Peloton already prepared & are usually sold out within 1-2 days, & does not have any preservatives nor colouring. Peloton gets their bread from Bread Project which supplies to major cafes, they usually buys standard size from them. Food here at Peloton are prepared ala minute.
