Over at Thai-to Go, we ordered the last two dishes below :
Stir fried Seafood Tang Hoon- the tang hoon is lightly stir fry with the fresh seafood, with a dash of light Thai fish sauce and lemon to make an appetising bite.

Green Curry Chicken - this dish is very lemak sweetly spicy, the Chef uses a lot of coconut (suntan) to make the gravy, the chicken pieces used are fresh and cook tenderly thorough, the meat is infused with the lemak gravy.

Mango Salad and Thai Spring Roll - Thai-To-Go at Sembawang Road

We were driving along Upp Thomson and wondering where to settle our dinner we when both thought of Thai - To - Go. Its a new eatery along Sembawang Road that replaced Vittles.

This eatery specialises in Thai food, and to the delight of my Muslim Readers & friends, Thai-To-Go is Halal Certified. Bob & I ordered the following dishes.

The Mango Salad tastes fresh and juicy, with a generous splash of chicken floss drizzled on top. The serving is just right for two as we ordered small.
Thai Mango Salad

 Thai Spring Roll
The Thai Spring Roll is clearly fried ala minute, and is crisp when you bite into it.

Kang Kong Sambal Belachan
We did not finish the  Sambal Kang Kong Belachan as it leeks of Belachan. Unless you are a great fan of Belachan, we would not recommend you order this, unless the Chef  tweaks his recipe to give it a more fresh Sambal taste and less of the Belachan.

Al-Azhar Restaurant at No 11/11A Cheong Chin Nam Road

Bob & I wanted to feast at Bukit Timah Food Centre near Glory Presbyterian Church, alas, the Food Centre was found to be undergoing major renovation. We have no choice but to move on to Upp Bukit Timah Road Opposite Bukit Timah Plaza & Beauty World.

There was a whole row of eatery along Cheong Chin Nam Road. We surveyed the whole street and decided to dine at Al-Azhar Restaurant at No 11/11A Cheong Chin Nam Road purely because we witnessed the most number of patrons eating here.

We ordered the Butter Chicken & Garlic Naan & Basmati Rice. The Butter Chicken tastes like the wet version of Tandoori Chicken, with a sweet creamy taste, and the chicken pieces are cooked just right & tender.

The Garlic Naan is cooked ala minute, and tastes crisp with a slight garlicky taste, and when dipped into the Butter Chicken source --> is absolutely heavenly ! Note : There is no MSG after taste !In fact the Garlic Naan tastes so good, we ordered a second helping!

WHITE ASPARAGUS 2012 AT LES AMIS

WHITE ASPARAGUS 2012 AT LES AMIS

The harvest of the coveted white asparagus indicates the end of the bitter winter season and Les Amis restaurant gets in the action of the next highlight in the gourmet calendar with a spring menu featuring white asparagus from Beelitz, Germany.

Unlike the green asparagus, the albino cousin of the asparagus variety is bred for its thick shoots, closed heads, and a mild and non‐bitter taste. From 25th April to 9th June 2012, Les Amis’ White Asparagus menu boasts of six stellar recipes that were created to accentuate the unique flavour of the edible shoot. One of the six items on the menu includes a white asparagus risotto paired with lettuce and confit egg yolk priced at $60++. According to Chef Leitgeb, “The risotto which is aged for seven years combined with the “fatty” flavoured additions in the dish helps the delicate taste of the white asparagus to shine.”

Besides importing the sweet and tender produce from Beelitz, the ‘vegetable garden’ of Berlin, Chef Leitgeb transports the traditional way of white asparagus feasting in Europe to the restaurant’s dining room. Culturally, families in Europe gather and tuck into a white asparagus spread served together with slices of ham, potatoes, poached eggs, spinach, mushrooms, hollandaise, sauce gribiche placed at the centre of the dinner table. Les Amis offers an identical European white asparagus experience with ‘The Family Affair’ option for a “family‐style” experience priced at $100++ per person and served by the table.

Be it a cosy dinner for two or a holiday meal with gourmet conscious family and friends, mark the beginning of spring with the season’s favourite crop at Les Amis where the menu is gratifying and service never disappoints.
