Topless Five - Swensen's at Northpoint

When we come to the end of our main course at Swensen's, we had to have the Topless Five to complete the meal. 

Swensen's has a complete selection of ice cream of more than 30 assorted flavors to satisfy the ice cream cravings of die hard fans! 

My favorite flavors : Macadamia, Durian, Old Fashioned Vanilla, Rum & Raisin, Mango. I love it that the ice -cream flavors are made not too sweet, and flavors such as Macadamia even has bits of  Macadamia nuts embedded in them. 

I'd recommend that you should start on the flavor with the least intense taste & sweetness so you can taste them distinctively, else flavors such as Durian might over power the Macadamia or Rum & Raisin. 

Chicken Burger - Swensen's at Northpoint

Bob is a great fan of burgers at Swensen's. He ordered Chicken Burger which comes with French fries and coleslaw. The freshly marinated chicken pieces are nicely grilled till tender and juicy and sandwiched between two burger buns which was buttered and grilled. The pineapple slice and tomato adds a tinge of sweetness to the Chicken Burger. The French fries, nicely fried, makes the meal complete. 

King Prawns in Laksa Pasta - Swensen's at Northpoint

Bob and I visited Swensen's at Northpoint to try out their new revamp menu in 2013.

I ordered the King Prawns in Laksa Spaghetti. The color of the spaghetti does not have any tinge of the orangy color of laksa.

However as I bite and chew into the spaghetti, it lets out a distinctive yet light flavor of laksa - so subtle is the taste, without the usual lemak coconuty taste that comes with laksa. It's like smelling the perfume, yet the perfume does not carry any color of its own.  

I like it the chef uses King prawns that are lightly blanched, took the trouble to devein and butterflied the prawns for my easy eating. It adds up that they are fresh, juicy and sweet to the taste with a crunchy texture. 

Mega Burger - Swensen's at Northpoint

Bob always have this weakness for burgers. He always loves meat between burger buns. Swensen's has this Mega Burger on its menu and Bob must have it.

A Mega Burger indeed it turn out to be. 

Check out the layer of great stuff that comes after the top bun - fried egg, cheese, chicken ham, beef burger patty, eggplant slices, tomato slices, chicken strips, Romaine lettuce. Wow! 

The bun's coated lightly on the underside with butter and heated in the pan to light toast it. Bob donated the eggplant & tomato slices to me as they are among my favourite vegetables as I have been eyeing them since they arrive at our table. 

The beef patty heavily spiced, and made in house at the kitchen, tastes a little salty though for my palate. Since I had family history of HBP, plus I am not a beef (or red meat fan) except if it comes in sirloin form, I had to politely decline Bob's offer to finish a quarter of his beef patty for him. 

The French Fries though are tastily sweet as I ask the kitchen not to put salt. 

Soft Shelled Crab with Spicy Spaghetti - Swensen's at Northpoint

Bob & I visited Swensen's at Northpoint on the second day of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Swensen's having Promotion on Ocean's Seven featuring Seven new items on its menu. 

I had a craving for spicy spaghetti, so I ordered Swensen's Soft Shelled Crab with Spicy Spaghetti. 

The chef is generous with the portion of soft shelled crab, which is fried ala minute, tastes juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. 

The spaghetti taste light spicy and is cooked to the right softness, not al dente. Interestingly though, al dente pasta has a lower glycaemic index than that which is cooked thorough.

26 March 2012 Bob & I went Swensen's at Northpoint for dinner as I had a craving for sandwiches. But I ended up ordering the Chilli Soft-Shelled Crab Pasta, and Bob ended up with his favourite Hawaiian Chicken Burger. To top
