This Teochew porridge stall serves up authentic Teochew dishes. The current stall is helmed by the fourth generation of the Leow Family. The elderly patriarch Mr Leow Yer Kim (age 86 born 1925 - one year Dad's junior) has semi-retired, and is a common fixture at the stall, he used to help to clear the used cutlery several years ago when he was more robust. This days age has played catch up with him and he walks gently with a walking stick and he children prefers him to rest at the stall. He brings with him 74 years of experience in the food business, and has opened this stall for about 65 years since the 1940's.
Elderly Mr Leow's maternal grandpa started selling these Teochew Braised porridge as the first generation, he then passed the business over to Mr Leow's Uncle, who later passed the baton to Mr Leow in the 1940's. He has since added more things to the menu.
Currently Mr Leow's youngest son is helming the business, with the help of Mr Leow's daughter.
They really wake up early every day (except Sunday when they take a complete rest for the week) to prepare the ingredients ready to greet the morning 6.45 am crowd & the 11am - 2pm lunch crowd. By about 2.30 pm the food is usually sold out.
