Part 1 - Lee Kui (Ah Hoi ) Teochew Restaurant at Mosque Street Chinatown

It was Dad's 86th Birthday on the Lunar Calendar yesterday 1 May 2012. Grouch Two organised his Birthday Bash at LEE KUI ( AH HOI) Restaurant at Mosque Street, inviting Uncle Kwang & Aunt Linda, Uncle James & Aunt Mary. Both Aunt Mary & Aunt Linda are Mum's 4th sister & 5th sister respectively. The additional 2 couples made up to 13 people at the dinner table. To the Chinese, the number 13 sounds like Sap Sang ( Cantonese), which means "Confirm & Sure is Live" which is pretty auspicious for a Birthday Boy!

I recall the last time we dined at LEE KUI (AH HOI) was kinda like maybe 5 years back. When Mum was alive we used to order dishes from LEE KUI sometimes during Chinese New Year Season. Then later Dad simply just endorsed Dai Seng Teochew Restaurant at People's Park Centre until Dai Seng's eventual closure last May 2011.

Here's a take at the dishes we ordered last night :
