Bob & I went Shopping in City Square Mall after work on 16 Jun 2012, and visited Soup Restaurant for our dinner. We are regulars at Soup Restaurant, and have since visited several Soup Restaurant branches in Singapore : Causeway Point, AMK Hub. The first Soup Restaurant opened in 1991 in Smith Street. The four founders : Mok Yip Peng, Wong Wei Teck, Wong Chi Keong, Ho Hong Chin perceived a potential demand for herbal soups & home-cooked meals in Singapore.
Today Soup Restaurant www.souprestaurant.com.sg spans 14 branches and serves home style Chinese Cuisine, with its Signature Samsui Ginger Chicken being the must try item on its menu. The Chicken is first steamed, then carefully sliced into bite size pieces and arrayed neatly on a platter topped with a saucer of freshly grated ginger soaked in Sesame Seed Oil. This was a humble dish popular among the Samsui Women living in Chinatown and is usually served during their Chinese New Year.
