(L-R : Tay Yong Seng, Lemuel Tay, Yvette Chua)
IT trained Lemuel Tay worked as a Chef with the Navy for four and a half years before he decided to strike out on his own to pursue his passion and love for creating and developing uniquely different, out of the ordinary pastry and desserts.
Yvette Chua was teaching Home Economics at Cedar Girls’ High before she decided to hone her pastry culinary skills by joining D'zerts Cafe as their resident Pastry Chef. Pastry Chef Yvette counts 2am:dessertbar Chef Janice Wong (below) among those who inspires her.
The result is the
creation of very special exquisite flavored cakes, pastry and desserts that you hardly
find anywhere else. D'zerts Cafe does not have a regular fix menu as Pastry Chef Yvette uses seasonal ingredients and with her creative skills has come up with new inventions every other day. This keeps dessert lovers in suspense and they really visit D'zerts Cafe with this anticipation to be surprised every time they stepped into D'zerts Cafe.
The Ambience
D'zerts Cafe is furnished modern minimalist style with bright red chairs pairing with square tables. The entrance of D'zerts Cafe is a see-through glass door with see-through glass walls flush to the floor allowing natural light to lit up the cafe. The large spacious dining area allows the Pastry Chefs to conduct baking classes in air-con cool comfort.
As D'zerts Cafe do not have a standard menu, the Pastry Chefs' creations for the day are beautifully displayed at the counter.
On my visit to D'zerts Cafe, Pastry Chef Yvette came up with the inventions below :
Lemon Meringue Tart
Passion Fruit Tart
Mixed Berries Tart
On a Date
Tart Au Chocolat
Matcha Latte
Chocolate Indulgence Junior
Movie Combo
Hello Kitty Macaroon
