Dinner at Song Kee Seafood ( Teochew Zhi Char fare ) at Tanglin Halt Market Food Centre
Our dinner on Tuesday 3Jan2012 was the first dinner we had after we start work on the new year. To celebrate we went to Tangling Halt Food Centre to look for our favorite Zhi Char stall - Song Kee Seafood to order the Thai chicken & prawn stir fry Kai Lan. I missed my Mum's cooking so much and our dear Madam cooks dishes that absolutely tastes like Mum's cooking I just had to have my fix.
Prawns stir fry with Kai Lan (S$12) used to be Mum's signature dish. Madam cooks it just like Mum. The gravy has a slight tinge of a cross between dried octopus & Ti Bou (dried fried fish) commonly used in Teochew cooking style.
This is the first time we ordered the Thai Chicken from Madam as Bob is kinda tired of eating the same old thing of prawn paste chicken. Our choice seems to have brighten our evening.
The Thai Chicken is freshly deep fried, then drizzled in special sauce made out of Thai Chilli, Thai fish sauce, and stir in with fresh cut pineapple. The springingly sweetness coming from the pineapple brings an added flavour to the chicken. I strongly recommend that you try this dish.
