The Beginnings of Blackvelvet Bakes 
Blackvelvet Bakes was started by home-based Pastry Chef Angelia Lau (known as Angie to her business contacts) in October 2013 who uses Instagram to market her creative bakes. She used to work in the fashion merchandising industry, having manage fashion labels in various major retail giants. In Oct 2013, she decided to follow her love & passion for baking and started her online baking business called Blackvelvet Bakes

For all occasion - Red Velvet, All About Chocolate cupcakes, and Blueberry Streusel Muffin.

Her Inspiration 
Pastry Chef Angie gets her inspiration from Cookbooks and food blogs.  She does research & product development on new flavors & products by checking out new recipe & flavor ideas from the internet, then mix and match new flavours in the kitchen. Angie shared that to be a great Pastry Chef, one needs to acquire practical experience, have plenty of patience, must be creative & resourceful  to research, develop & perfect a new recipe. 

Her Training 
Despite not going through conventional route of going through Baking School, Pastry Chef Angie has acquired her baking skills all by herself.

Although she does not provide islandwide delivery service she does have provide a few meeting points for self-collection.   

Her Secret to a Great Bake
Blackvelvet Bakes uses fine quality, natural ingredients in place of artificial flavouring. The bake produce are  lower in fat & sugar. 









You can have your rosette cakes made to order, simply tell Pastry Chef Angie your preferred flavor. I love it she uses pastel colors for the rosette flower decoration on the cake she bakes a they give a natural hue. 






These are the selection of cupcake flavor by Pastry Chef Angie Lau. The cupcakes are of pastel color which clearly indicates there are no artificial colorings used in her recipe. One thing I like about her cupcakes is that they are moist, and she uses central filling of real fruit bits in her strawberry cupcake, plus the whipped cream is light smooth creamy & is not sweetness overload but sweet just right. Unlike cupcakes where the topping is made of marzipan, Pastry Chef Angie uses whipped cream as topping to add a smooth silky texture to the cupcake.
