Old Habits at 38 Telok Blangah Rise #01-315 S(090038) - The Ambience & Decor

Old Habits
The Ambience

Right at the entrance is a little metallic truck (*below) welcoming you into the nostalgic vintage world of Co-Founders Donovan Goh & Selena Kam at sleepy little town cafe known as Old Habits @38 Telok Blangah Rise, #01-315, S(090038).

The Old Habits ambience is strongly nostalgic, you feel as if you are transported back into the 1960s, 1970s, as many vintage posters, signages depict era of celebrities & singers from the 60's, 70's & 80's era. Old Habits has a lot of paraphernalia & vintage signages & posters that are used to decorate the cafe and everything is for sale here.

Donovan Goh & Selena Kam invested a five figure sum into this business and hopes to break even by at least a year. Seven of the tables are recycled from old metallic sewing machines that our grandmothers used to use. Four of these tables have top that are made from a rectangle display box with see through glass panels.

The renovation works in Old Habits were minimal with coat of paint, air-conditioning works & lightings all in - Donovan Goh & Selena Kam pretty much DIY most of the decor & furnishings. When you stepped into Old Habits, you can see many vintage shelves, cupboard aligned against the walls, with a display of many collector's items such as vintage clocks, alarm clocks, radios, lamps.

From the main entrance glass door on your left you can see some nostalgic signage (**below)

Right beside these signages is a wooden cabinet with some vintage typewriter, telephone, clocks on the cabinet top. (**below)

There are more vintage signages such as Milkmaid Milk, Lyon's Tea, 7UP, Horlicks, Lowe's (** below) that are neatly displayed on the left wall behind the Barista's Counter.

There is a wooden display cabinet with glass panels housing many of Disney ceramic characters such as Mickey Mouse, Pinocchio, Donald Duck, beside the Cashier counter.
Even the humble toilet walls are not spared. Neatly adorn on the toilet walls are these for sale signages below:

On the right of the main entrance glass door is this wooden display cabinet with glass panels that proudly displays some of the antique vintage collectible clocks. (*below)

Neatly framed and hung are these 1950's to 1970's memorabilia posters & photos on the right wall.

More signages decorate the right wall, all of which are collector's items such as DATSUN, EAGLE, Special Gulf Tires, ZEISS, PHILIPS, MAZDA. (*below)

Further on the right wall are hung these toy pianos that once used to be our childhood play-toys. There are even some out of production vintage clocks that used to be found in our homes in the 1960's & 1970's.

The right wall leads to a display shelf facing the main entrance glass door, with a selection of antique vintage typewriter, radio, clocks, and other collectors' rare finds neatly displayed on each shelf. (*below)

This wooden cabinet beside the display shelf (*below) houses many a Collector's vintage clocks which are Co-Founder Don's personal collection.

Seven of the tables at Old Habits are recycled from old metallic sewing machines that our grandmothers used to use. Had you been observant you'd have notice that these 3 table tops have old sewing chairs for legs.

Resting atop 4 of these sewing machine legs are rectangular glass boxes doubling up as table tops, with nostalgic vintage record discs, Viewmasters, old clocks displayed inside the glass boxes.
