Bob was on leave so we decided to head off to Jalan Kayu for some Indian Cuisine. We ordered Chicken Dum Briyani at Thohirah Restaurant at 258 Jalan Kayu.
They serve the Chicken Dum Briyani in an aluminium flat bowl and invert it over a plastic plate to serve. In a Chicken Dum Briyani the chicken is cooked together with the Briyani rice in a huge pot with spices, herbs added.
The chicken is cooked tender and tears off the bone easily. The rice is thoroughly cooked with the Basmati grains infused with the curry and spices to give an aromatic flavor. I do wish the Chef use more garlic, shallots, saffron to give the dish a more intense flavor.
