{knead to eat} at 6 Changi Business Park Avenue 1, UE BizHub East North Tower, #01-30 - The Beginning The Ambience The Menu

Mumtaz Marican was working as account manager in an information technology research company, and had experience a bit of a mid life crisis when she hit her mid thirties.  At a gathering among colleagues where they lament about the struggles in the corporate arena, one colleague suggested going into a business venture together. That one idea triggered that entrepreneur spark in her that saw her pouring her heart & soul into researching & developing a business plan that blossom into what is known today as {knead to eat}.

As part of the research to develop the menu for {knead to eat} Mumtaz has to scour & devour every sandwich & salad & soup from bistros she can find in CBD, Suntec City Mall & CBP (Changi Business Park). Mumtaz wanted to own a business based on what she was passionate about - food, & she wanted to serve whole food that is made from scratch, homestyle, nutritious, nourishing using traditional recipes and latest technology such as sous vide style used in cooking the beef rump in Brutus Beef Sandwich & chicken breast in the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. 

So at 34, she quit her corporate life, armed with zero experience in F&B industry, forked out close to about S$200,000, she hired consultants to help her venture into the F&B industry in coming up with the Corporate branding, in furnishing & designing her sandwich (bistro) parlour as well as developing the menu & recipes. Within barely 7 months she managed to set up her sandwich parlour and trademarked it {knead to eat},  a pun on the words "need to eat", and since it is a sandwich house, of the necessity of kneading the dough to get the bread to make the sandwich. 

The Ambience 

The sandwich parlour {knead to eat} adopts an open concept  in its furnishing & decor. The Payment Counter (*below) is where customers pay for the food they ordered.  

The {knead to eat} Sandwich Station - is where you find the team of Sandwich Artists serving you with their friendly, hospitable, cheerful demeanour whilst making the sandwich of your choice flavors. The meats at {knead to eat} are typically made from scratch, with the 4 kg rump for the Brutus Beef Sandwich & the chicken breast meat for the Pesto Chicken Sandwich made sous vide style, whilst the chicken leg in bite size pieces for the Chicken Tikka Masala Sandwich are oven roasted. 

The Dining Area - there are about 10 tables for customers to dine in.

The {knead to eat} Soup - The menu consists of hearty fare with home made soups made from scratch. There are total of 10 different soup flavors as can be seen below here, with a few flavors available each day of the week :

The {knead to eat} Salad - {knead to eat} Founder Mumtaz Marican shares that she has a Specialty Salad Station where she has increased the selection of salad ingredients to enable customers to customise their made to order salads with their choice ingredients.
