Located right at the heart of Blk 121 Hougang Avenue 1 is a new cafe called Flavour Flings, co-founded by 3 good friends : Delphine Neo, her sister Neo Sze Jie & Executive Chef Shawn Koh who is a Culinary Institute Of America graduate. The cafe overlooks a basketball court at Blk 121, and offers a panoramic unblock view of the estate.
The entrance is bordered by glass panels flushed to the floor, offering visitors a clear peek into the inside world of Flavour Flings.
Diners who prefer al fresco setting can opt to relax at the table for 8 pax outside Flavour Flings.
Diners can study the Flavour Flings Menu 2015 and place their order at the Service Counter here & pay first, then get seated & wait to be served later when the food which is cooked ala minute is ready.
A pebble design pathway connects the Flavour Flings glass main entrance to the Service Counter, this is specially designed by Neo Sze Jie, the Co-Founder of Flavour Flings.
A book stand displays some of Chef Shawn Koh's personal Culinary Books collection, and serves as a partition between the pebbles walkway from the dining tables. Ladies with stilettos please be extra careful when stepping onto the pebbles walkway !!
Much of the design,decor, furnishings here at Flavour Flings are the handiworks of Delphine Neo, Neo Sze Jie, with contributions by Shawn Koh & Mohd Firdaus. As can be seen they are pretty much DIY work such as the wooden planks lining the wall of Flavour Flings (seen below).
The cafe floors retains its original cement layer to lend the cafe a more rustic industrial look, with the added benefit of the cement floor rendering a cooling effect. The table & chairs are their prized finds from some retail stores such as IKEA, Courts, etc. Even the lightings are store bought & install by the team.

Just barely two and a half months old and Flavour Flings has already seen a regular group of customers from the nearby estates as well as some office crowd just the lunch time peak hour.
Hanging from some wooden clothes pegs on thin wire are some of Chef Shawn Koh's creations for the menu at Flavour Flings - making their debut in the cafe.
I particularly find this mural painting of a couple having coffee & drinks pretty amusing.
Flavour Flings serves up a good selection of heart breakfast, brunch, lunch items plus a good spread of desserts, & great coffee & tea.
Here's a peek into the Flavour Flings Menu 2015 which includes : Salads, Sandwiches, Fries, Egg Classics, Soft Yolks, Pastas, Egg Casseroles, Specialities, Pancakes, Sweet Treats. This is easily more than 30 items on the menu, which means you have to make minimum 8 trips to Flavour Flings to complete one round of the items on their menu.
