Part 2 - 11 Feb 2012 dinner at Ah Orh Seafood at Sin Ming Road

Last evening the patriarch of the family was the Head Chef. He has an eldest son who is not keen in the family restaurant business, but has three capable daughters and his Mrs who are a great help in his food/ restaurant business. In fact it is the third daughter who does the cook out on Weekdays.

But they are taking a holiday break from 17Feb to 1 Mar 2012 so DO NOT come during this period as they shall be closed.
There were quite a number of orders from many tables, so I had the opportunity to capture each dish as they were presented to the patrons.

Cold Crab

Stewed Sea Cucumber

 Tou Fu Vegetable Takeaway

Oyster Egg Omelette

Part 1 - 11 Feb 2012 dinner at Ah Orh Seafood at Sin Ming Road

Last night Bob & I went to re-visit Ah Orh at Sin Ming together with Grouch Two, Stanley my favourite BIL, and my Dad.

Since it was a Saturday evening 11 Feb 2012  close to dinner time 6pm, the dinner crowd starts to string in. We were early so we were spoilt for choice for tables & seats. But not so for those who came in barely 45 mins later for the entire coffeeshop was fill to the brim. Not a single table was empty !

There was a slight queue at Ah Orh's stall, and I manage to place my order for : King Prawns stir fry with leek (had this order because Dad being on wafarin cannot consume green leafy vegetables), Har Zhong Gai (Prawn Paste chicken - this is the ONLY way chicken is served at Ah Orh), Gu Lou Yoke (Sweet & Sour Pork), Steamed  Sea Bass Tail Teochew style, Hae Zhor ( also known as Gor Hiang ) The total bill comes to S$85.

Here's what we ordered :

Go Lou Yoke (Sweet & Sour Pork )

Hae Zhor ( Gor Hiang)

Steamed Sea Bass Tail

King Prawns stir fry with leek

Har Zhong Gai (Prawn Paste Chicken)

Introduction - Ah Orh Seafood at Sin Ming Road

Braised Duck with Sea Cucumber S$20

Gor Hiang

Ah Orh Seafood is owned by Mr Goh. He is the Head chef here at Sin Ming, serves a nostalgic traditional authentic Teochew cooking styled dishes : Steam Crab, Braised Duck with Sea Cucumber, Prawn Paste Chicken, Steamed Pomfret.

The prices are very reasonable, the seafood is always fresh. Recently he  has  train up his younger daughter to take up the cooking here, while his elder daughter mans the stall, and handles orders from customers.

This place brings back a lot of memories because I used to get my van serviced here at the Sin Ming Motor Workshop where my mechanic sets up shop. Some evenings Bob & I would drive tot Sin Ming after work to patronise Ah Orh for its fresh seafood dishes.

Check out their opening hours :
